This festival celebrates the appearance day of Lord Nrsimha, Lord Krishna’s half-man, half-lion incarnation. Lord Nrsimha incarnates to protect Prahlada, the pious son of the demon Hiranyakasipu, by killing the demon while fulfilling the boons Lord Brahma had granted him. Lord Nrsimha is revered as the protector of all Vaisnavas and is worshiped as the fourth incarnation of Vishnu.
