The Ratha-yatra festival represents the longing of Lord Krishna’s intimate Vrndavana devotees, headed by Srimati Radharani, to bring Him back to that blessed land after meeting Him at Kuruksetra. According to tradition, the Lord catches a cold once a year during Snana-yatra, His bathing ceremony, held just prior to the Ratha Yatra festival. When He gets better, His servants arrange for Him to go on a lavish procession in the company of His devotees.
